Barnaby Gadsby

Captain: Barnaby Gadsby

Barney is an MCA approved Captain who is now enjoying his 4th Year onboard SY Antara. Having previously worked on other Perini Navis (SY …Is A Rose and SY Phryne), Barney has developed a broad understanding for Perini Navi that only comes from spending time onboard and years under sail. Barney's enthusiasm for sailing has lead him to circumnavigate the globe where he particularly enjoyed cruising Alaska, getting to see the wild orcas and Alaskan bears!

Barney has also been a wilderness/multi-activity instructor both in the US and Europe. With this background devoted to outdoor activities and water sports, particularly diving, he will see you safe in any endeavor you may undertake on the water. When on vacation Barney enjoys traveling, sailing, hiking, climbing, and fishing.

Barnaby is here to navigate you through a memorable trip.

First Mate: Matt Arnold

Matt's passion and enthusiasm for sailing and the ocean lead him away from his home town of Guilford, Surrey and into the professional yachting industry. After completing his yachtmaster in Gibraltar, Matt spent the summer skippering a 50ft sailing yacht for Medsailors around Croatia, before deciding to further his career on board larger yachts joining Antara in October 2014. When not onboard Matt enjoys spending his time in the mountains climbing and skiing and in his spare time partakes in watersports activities such as wakeboarding and dinghy sailing.

Matt's cheerful character and youthful energy can be transferred to providing both a relaxing and activity filled trip.

Chief Engineer: Bennett Brissette

Bennett grew up in the seaside village of Mystic, CT, USA where he began sailing and later teaching sailing at a local yacht club. After graduating from Colorado State University with a mechanical engineering degree, he spent time in Chicago and Boston doing engineering sales before leaving to start a career in yachting in 2010. Originally captaining a 57-foot Swan he then moved to SY Rosehearty, a 56m Perini, as second engineer where he stayed for two and a half years. He spent a few years working on "the dark side" of yachting on larger motor yachts before he joined Antara in 2015. In his spare time Bennett enjoys renovating his home in Connecticut, traveling to new places, or sailing on his boat back home. His favorite accomplishment is building a hidden bookcase/door in his house - ask him to show you the video… or he will just show it to you anyway.

Bennett is here to help you with any technical issues you have including wifi, air conditioning, or lighting and to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Deckhand / Second Engineer : Daniel Kojic

Originally from Malmo in the South of Sweden, Daniel has grown up sailing smaller yachts around the South of Sweden, Denmark and the Mediterranean. Daniel's background is in industrial mechanics, where he gained qualifications in welding and fitting, in addition to spending eight years working in yacht insurance. Daniel's knowledge of mechanics combined with that of sailing and the yachting industry lead him to complete his yachtmaster and AEC courses and resulted in a change of career path. Daniel is a keen fisherman and diver as well as being a motorbike enthusiast in his spare time.

Chief Stewardess: Hattie Weight

After graduating from University in 2008, Hattie proceeded to spend five years working within the corporate world in London. Now with three years experience in the industry Hattie has never once looked back, and has worked on a variety of Motor Yachts ranging from 45m-55m which have taken her all over the Mediterranean and Caribbean. In doing so she has picked up a wide variety of accreditations including the American Yacht Institute's Silver Service Certificate, Barista Skills Certificate, Mixology Masterclass Certificate, and WSET Level 1. In her spare time Hattie enjoys all sports and is a keen Netball player and also an avid horse rider.

She also has a keen passion for scuba diving and recently obtained her PADI open water. Now with over two years' of experience in the industry, Jenna has worked on Motor Yachts ranging from 48m - 78m, where she developed a particular interest in wines and spirits having gained her WSET level II and Guest II intermediate cocktail qualification. Cooking is Jenna's therapy and during her free time she can often be found pottering in the galley and experimenting with new recipes.

Whilst onboard you can guarantee Jenna will always be on hand to provide you with great service, and has never been seen without a smile.

Deckhand: Digby Ibbotson

Coming from the Channel Islands, a small group of British islands off the North West coast of France, Digby grew up with a passion for the ocean. Since then he has worked around the world, cruising in Croatia, Turkey, France, and the Caribbean to name a few. He recently completed his PADI Divemaster course in Mexico. When he is on vacation he enjoys surfing, fishing, hiking, motorbiking and diving.
